How to be fashionable on a low budget with litte fashion skills?
hey im a senior in high school. im going off to college next year and im working on self-esteem issues, and just a lot is changing and i would like to be more confident in my looks. i feel like my closet is full of clothes that i dont even like, so i would like to start a new collection.
however, there are 2 issues i have and this is where you come in:
1. im really bad at putting outfits together. like if i see someone dressed cute, im like “thats how i want to dress” but i cant seem to come up with the outfits. i buy stuff and then hate it later when the tags are off. so what can i do to work on this?
and 2. Im on a budget. I have little money to spare as most my money is going towards helping my struggling family and a flordia vacation with my friends. where are some good places to shop? also any tips?
Also, what are some wardrobe basics/essentials that would be good to start with?
Im going for a pretty, natural, and mature style. im also very pettite
any advice, outfits, etc would be so helpful!!!! -thanks!

Hey, no worries (:
Accessories can make your outfit go from blah to wow.
Try wearing scarfs to plain shirts, or necklaces.
Wear watches or bracelets, oh and definitely sunglasses/shades.
Trench coats and leather jackets are in this season.
& Flats, heels, gladiators are so cute.
WikiHow also helped me a lot.
Good luck

Having many clothing pieces as neutral colors are very verstile and any amount of accessories can dress up or dress down any outfit.
Try shopping at Buffalo Exchange or Crossroads, its reasonable, trendy, modern, vintage, and very different from what you see at your typical dept. stores.
Just buy chic, classy but sexy clothes that show off your assests! Great way to higher self-confidence.
And make sure YOU wear the clothes, don’t let the clothes wear you!

If you have any fashionable friends, ask them to help you shop.
Lots of stores have sales people that can help.
Some essentials: anything solid colored is a good start. You could buy a simple dress, a few accesories (earrings, hats, jackets, shoes, belts) and it would look like a different outfit everytime. Mix and match
That’s what i do.

I think you should check out Forever21.com. They have a part on their website that offers you full outfit options. They also tell you how much the complete outfit is. They are usually very affordable. Then you can see how they put the outfit together. They have so many affordable clothes there. Also, you should buy a few staple pieces and classic pieces. A couple pairs of jeans in a dark wash that are perfect for you. If you have to spend more money on these jeans, then you must because they are staples and you will keep them forever. Also, some black pants. A few skirts, like a jean one and a black pencil skirt. Then some plain tees in a few colors and some fun tops as well. Buy lots of cheaper accesories. These will make your outfits different and unique. After you have all of this, you will need a few pairs of shoes and a couple purses to finish off your look.
If you need to save money on these items as you mentioned, Forever 21 is the way to go. Also, check out sale and clearance items online at online stores such as the Buckle for jeans. Dont buy from the store they are too expensive for someone on a budget. Great shoes can be purchased from barefeetshoes.com! They are really affordable and offer cute options. Also, check out alloy.com, wetseal.com, greatglam.com and amiclubwear.com sometimes have good deals. Check out retailmenot.com for coupon codes for these online stores so that you can get free shipping or better yet, a percentage off your purchase.
Good luck to you and I hope that this is helpful!

Some basics you can start out with:
Plain white tank top
cute jeans
simple plain cotton shirts (colored or not)
skirts
shorts
If your on a budget target, forever 21, aeropostale has some cute but cheap stuff.
Also look for sales. go to the stores and look at what the mannequins for inspiration. look at magazines and look at what kind of clothes are in style. have fun and be your self. don’t just wear clothes because other people wear them. know what kind of clothes fit your body type.
