From the moment Apple decided to launch its iPhone, there has been tremendous speculation. And now when it has been around for some time (thought restricted to US only as of now), it seems that the phone does raise quite a bit of eye brows. No doubt that the phone is pretty and easy to use, but when we guage its potential in terms if features and functionalities, we do feel that there is sure a lot of scope of improvement. Nonetheless, for the fans of Apple iPhone, the handset sure displays an impressive blend of music player and a phone.

The Apple iPhone is a lovely sleek device that boasts of a large touchscreen. Coming sans any buttons, (with trim profile and clean line) the handset makes the design looks so appealing, that even LG Prada and HTC Touch are left behind. The iPhone is taller than the Palm Treo 755p, and much slimmer than the iconic Motorola RAZR. The most noteworthy feature of all is its display, and the point of appreciation is now what it does, but how it does. At a generous 89mm (3.5 inches), the display takes full advantage of the phone’s size, while its 480×320-pixel resolution (160 dots per inch) translates into brilliant colours, sharp graphics and fluid movements.

True to Apple iPhone style, the iPhone Menu is attractive, intuitive and user friendly. It’s easy to find all features, and we like that essential features aren’t buried under random menus. Plus, fluid animation takes you between different functions. Depending on the usage, the touchscreen becomes number keypad, keyboard, safari browser, and music and video player. A matter to err here is that scrolling the touchscreen takes a hell lot of time. Also, there is lack of buttons requires a lot of tapping to move about the interface. And since there are no dedicated Talk and End buttons, you must use a few taps to find these features. So, for mutli- tasking, it can grow wearisome.

Criticism aside, the Apple iPhone’s touchscreen offers amazing feature like ‘zoom’. It inckudes accelerometer, and also a proximity sensor. So, if you are an ardent fan of touch sensitive phones, the Apple iPhone surely makes a big impression.
